Morton signed the Declaration and chaired the committee that wrote the Articles of Confederation. The United States of America was never truly "founded" as much as it was declared independent from the Kingdom of Great Britain on July 4, 1776.

This date marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. It should be clear, from these quotations, that the concept of separating church and state is hardly of recent invention in the United States, since we see it as far back as at least 1644.

The Americans adopted the Articles of Confederation, a declaration that established a national government which was made up of a one-house legislature. Our fun Flag Day coloring pages are literacy builders, too! The educational system predates even the word "American," which was introduced in 1684 by Cotton Mather, a Puritan minister in New England whose sermons reflected his concerns over formal ways to rear young people. He wanted a strong central government to provide order and stability. "Let it be tried then," he wrote, "whether any middle ground can be taken which will at once support a due supremacy of the national authority," while maintaining state power only when "subordinately useful."

The United States welcomes the opening ceremony on August 31of the “Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong” and commends all participants for their willingness to engage in an inclusive dialogue for national reconciliation and unity. At the time he was inducted Franklin was working as a journalist and he wrote several pro-Masonic articles which were published in The Pennsylvania Gazette. They proposed a strong central government made up of three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial; each would be perpetually restrained by a sophisticated set of checks and balances.
